The unveiling was more than a first look at this year’s car; it was a celebration of student innovation, hands-on engineering, and the kind of real-world learning that helps prepare the next generation of developers and technologists.
This year marks an exciting milestone for Formula uOttawa. Now in its 10th year as a team, the group unveiled its 8th car and is preparing for what they hope will be their best season yet. Over the coming months, the team will compete against schools across Canada and the United States, with three competitions on the calendar and an ambitious goal: to place in the top 30 at the Michigan competition, which would mark their best finish ever.
For QNX Everywhere, this year also marks the beginning of a new collaboration. It is our first year sponsoring Formula uOttawa, with our support helping provide funding for the hardware needed to bring the 2026 car to life. But this is just the start.
Looking ahead to the 2027 car, Formula uOttawa’s software team plans to integrate free QNX technology into a new dashboard system through the QNX Everywhere program and resources. The planned QNX-based dash will run on a Raspberry Pi 5 and include capabilities such as IMUs, GPS, and data logging, allowing students to work with technologies that closely reflect real-world embedded and automotive software development.
From the excitement around this year’s car to the team’s plans for the 2027 QNX-powered dashboard, it is clear they are building more than a race car; they are building skills, confidence, and experience that will carry into their future careers.
Here’s to a strong competition season and a successful 2026 car!
